Lebanese Common Ground

I am a lebanese citizen,
I believe that all women and men "are born and remain free and equal in rights",
I believe that my country should give equal civil and political rights to all,
I am for the lebanese State's neutrality toward religion: neutrality means making no difference
between a religion and another, and no difference between religion and non-religion,
I am against the interference of religion in the functionning of the lebanese State,
just as I am against the interference of the State in the citizen's religion,
I believe in democracy, in freedom of speech and opinions.

The Purpose of This March

Many of us want a lebanese civil status unrelated to religion. Yet we are completely ignored by the lebanese government.

1- A lebanese Laïque Pride where we unite and march together for secularism will give faces and numbers to this demand. We will show how many we are, who we are, we will prove de facto that we- lebanese for secularism- exist, and our rights can no longer be denied.

2- The Laïque Pride will also create a dynamic movement that gives support to existing secular movements and organisations that are working on concrete measures to try to apply secularism in Lebanon (in various fields such as education, civil laws, politics...).

3- The Laïque Pride will also help bring together all existing organizations and associations that are concerned by the protection of human rights. It is an opportunity for all of us to meet and think, debate, coordinate and work together on building a more equal lebanese society.
