Sunday, Sept 2 - Hiking from Arz Bcharreh to Tannourine

Arz Bcharre is one of the most beautiful places in Lebanon. It was nominated, along with the cave of Jeita, to become one of the seven wonders of the world.This Sunday, we will start our hike in Arz Bcharre. We will make a tour in the reserve, contemplating a real Lebanese treasure.LEVEL 6 (20 km) will walk to Arz Tannourine. The path is not too steep. It will end at the entrance of Arz Tannourine. You must be well prepared for long distances. Lunch will be somewhere along the way. It is an exceptional hike, worth all the effort needed. There will be stops for rest, so don’t worry.LEVEL 3 will take the path leading to Bekaa Kafra, the home town of Mar Charbel. Unesco classified it as a typical traditional Lebanese village. It is a must to see. You will visit Mar Charbel’s house, the cave where he used to pray, and many landmarks of the village. Saturday, Sept 8 - Day on the beach at Tyre

In September, the sea is at its utmost serenity. It is calm, warm, and inviting.Tyre, our famous city, was founded in the 3rd century BC. It has an important historical background and it is rich in historical monuments.Tyre has a beautiful white sandy coast. It is one of the most beautiful shores in Lebanon. Close-by, there is a natural reserve. Tyre Coast Nature Reserve was declared a nature reserve in 1998. It comprises a sandy beach; fresh water springs and agriculture land. Water from the springs creates a mixed fresh water/salt water environment and the area is an important nesting site for sea turtles.The scientific section of the reserve offers us the opportunity to learn about nature life there. You will start our day with a boat ride out at sea. You will see the small island of Tyre, and sail along the coast. You will have a clear view of all the ancient ruins and the city from the coastal line. Afterwards, you will head to the scientific section of the reserve and learn about nature life there. At the end of our educational tour, you will go to the sandy beach of Tyre. Enjoy relaxing moments in the sun, either swimming or watching the calm sea and the white sand. Saturday, Sept 15 - Sunset hiking at Anfeh

Come and experience the pleasant moments of hiking at the coast, while watching the beautiful summer sunset.Our hike will be in Anfeh. Anfeh attracts a lot of tourists, especially during summer time, for its beautiful picturesque landscape of small white houses, windmills, and salt marshes on its rocky beaches along the Mediterranean coast. Its historical monuments, old churches, and archeological site of its peninsula, make it one of the top touristic destinations of the Lebanese northern coast.First, we will stop in one of the natural beauties of Anfeh. A cave furnished and set up in quite a unique way.Then we will take the tiny paths in Anfeh, an old village rich in ruins and caves.There, you will visit a very old Byzantine church among other historical monuments. The Citadel of Anfeh will be an important stop in our program.The citadel is considered a Crusader remain, but it was an important place for many other civilizations. Many historical things like old graves, mosaic pieces, olive presses, and salt pans can be found in and around it. The citadel is characterized by its rock-cut trench (Al-Khandaq). Afterwards, we will take an easy path leading to Saidet el Natour, an old historical monastery, where you can take great pictures and enjoy the view.Note: This hike will be one level, an easy one. It will mostly on the tiny streets of Anfeh. Sunday, Sept 16 - Hiking in Akoura

Akoura is well known for its delicious juicy apples, its dry and cool weather and the remarkable hospitality of its villagers. Views up there are breathtaking. Akoura is a world of its own! It has old historical churches and a road dated back to the Roman Empire.LEVEL 3 will start from the main piazza of Akoura. You will visit many ancient historical churches, Mar Saba, Mar Geryes,Mar Semaan, and the Roman road.After that, you will see Saidet el Habs located up on the peak overlooking the best view you can ever imagine! Then you will descend a staircase of 600 steps and walk through an apple orchard, then head to the forest of Mar Edna.It will be time for lunch. You will have a great picnic, then go back to the piazza and take the bus.The total length of the hike is around 10 to 11 km.LEVEL 6 will start from Roueis, Mejdel Akoura. Then you will take a tough path, called Via Ferata. It is a steep uphill at the beginning, becoming a bit easier along the way. A visit to Saidet el Habs gives you the best view you can imagine, overlooking all of Akoura. You will meet level 3 for lunch in the forest of Mar Edna.WHERE: Akoura,in the region of Jbeil,62 Km from Beirut,1450 meters above sea level.MEETING PLACE: 7:30 AM in the parking of Sagesse School in Jdeideh, facing the public garden.There will be a breakfast stop along the way.PRICE: 45,000 LL per person including transport, guides, insurance. Saturday, Sept 22 - Rafting day at AL ASSI

This time it will be a one day trip to Assi River for rafting. The drive is quite long, but it’s worth every minute of it!
We will stop on our way to visit Mar Maroun Cave, the source of Assi River and the Ammou in Hermel.Once you get to Assi, a short presentation on the basics of rafting will be presented. You will be given the necessary equipment (helmet, oars, life jacket). Each raft will carry around 6 to 8 passengers accompanied by a professional coach. Then off you go to experience a wild adventure in the river! The ride is long; you will follow the white stream and cross three or more waterfalls that will pump high your adrenaline! You will surely get wet so leave your phone and camera on land.After this ride, you will rest and have lunch (trout and regional specialties).
NOTE: This rafting club in Assi is our co-partner. Many of you will probably enjoy doing many rating trips during summer. Sunday, Sept 23 - Hiking at Chouf Reserve

The largest of Lebanon nature reserves, Al-Chouf Cedar Nature Reserve stretches from Dahr Al-Baidar in the north to Niha Mountain in the south. The reserve's most famous attractions are its three magnificent cedar forests of Maasser Al-Shouf , Barouk and Ain Zhalta - Bmohary . These Cedar forests account for a quarter of the remaining cedar forest in Lebanon.Our hike this Sunday will be in this beautiful Cedar reserve, in the section of Ain Zhalta. LEVEL 3 will start from the entrance of the reserve. You will have a short uphill stretch until you arrive to the cedar trees. You will see half of the forest, where views are really spectacular. Then the other groups will join you for lunch under the trees. The hike is about 7 km long, with an uphill from 1250m to 1650m.LEVEL 5 will also start from the entrance of the reserve, but will walk further uphill into the cedar trees. Then you will go down again to meet the other levels for lunch under the huge cedar trees. The hike is 10 km long with an uphill from 1250m to 1800m.LEVEL 7 will start from Bmohrey. You will walk uphill until you reach the top of Ain Zhalta Cedar Reserve. You will be able to see the Bekaa Valley and Qaraoun Lake. The views from the top are out of this world, and you will surely find that it was worth every effort you put to get there! Then you will meet the other groups further down to have lunch together in the shade of the great cedars. The hike is 14 km long with an uphill from 1250m to 2000m.WHERE: Ain Zhalta,chouf region,1250m to 2000m above sea level,45 km from Beirut.MEETING PLACE: 7:30 AM in the parking of Sagesse School in Jdeideh, facing the public garden.
