Dear friends,
Sunday 20th of December 09, wine will sing.
We shall spend the day in the evergreen Bekaa. The programme includes wine-tasting at the producers' cellars. But we shall not drink on an empty stomach; a stopover to eat some good labne or kariche with honey imposes itself in Chtaura. Then we shall visit the Ksara cellar and its magnificient labyrinth of alleys caved in the rocks, and immediately after we’ll head for Kefraya, the heart of the famous vineyards.
Then comes Kouroum Kefraya with its innumerable stills and the inevitable cheese and wine session at Clos St Thomas, where we shall be welcomed by Mr Said Touma's charming daughters Micheline and Nathalie. This family property has produced excellent wines within a few years, some of which obtained a medal of recognition.
Finally, with our heads in a swoon and singing all along the way, we shall return to Beirut. It is useless to mention that children under eighteen are not invited.
Practical details:
Duration of our journey: from 8:30 am till 5 pm
Difficulty: no difficulty, just like the wine
What to bring: Sunglasses, Hat, Wind breaker (K-way), Sweater. Don't forget your camera.
Cost: 30$ covering guides, transportation, insurance and Cheese and Wine
Feasibility: A minimum of 12 persons is required.
Meeting Place:
The meeting place is at 8:30 am at the parking near the Emergency Entry of the Sacré Cœur hospital Hazmieh. To reach it, take the road of the Presidential palace in front of the Hypermarché Abou Khalil Hazmieh, then the first turn left towards the hospital. Please, Be on time!

Pour le dimanche 20 décembre 09, le vin chantera.
Comme à notre bonne habitude, durant les frimas (si frimas il y a) de Décembre, c'est dans la plaine verdoyante de la Békaa que nous passerons notre journée. Au menu une tournée chez les producteurs de vin de la Békaa pour une petite dégustation. Mais nous ne commencerons pas à boire le ventre creux; une halte pour un bon labné où kariché au miel s'impose à Chtaura, donc ne prenez pas votre petit déjeuner, c'est un conseil d'ami. Nous visiterons ensuite les galeries creusées dans la roche des caves de Ksara, puis en route pour Kefraya vin de grande renommée, ensuite Kouroum Kefraya avec ses cuves innombrables et pour terminer un Cheese and Wine au Clos St Thomas pour lequel nous avons un faible particulier où nous serons accueilli par les charmantes filles de Mr Saïd Touma le propriétaire que je salue, Nathalie et Micheline; cette propriété familiale à réussi en quelques années à produire un excellent vin dont plusieurs médaillé.
Enfin la tête pleine de vapeurs d'alcool (à consommer avec modération) nous repartirons en chantant vers Beyrouth.
Il est inutile de préciser que c'est une journée pour les jeunes de plus de 18 ans.

Difficulté: aucune (aimer le vin)
A prévoir: chapeau, lunettes de soleil, pull et coupe vent et bien sur votre caméra
A prévoir aussi 10 kg de bonne humeur et un tonne de sourire.
Le prix par personne est de 30$, incluant le transport, les guides, l'assurance et le cheese and wine.
Il faut être au minimum 12 inscrits pour que la sortie ait lieu.
Rassemblement:
Le rendez vous est à 8:30 am précise au parking qui est près de l’urgence de l'hôpital du Sacré Cœur à Hazmieh. Pour y arriver prendre la bifurcation qui mène vers le palais présidentiel devant l'hypermarché Abou Khalil, ensuite prendre la première bifurcation à gauche en direction du Sacré Cœur. Soyez Ponctuel !
