Saturday 10 March – Family Trip to Byblos and surroundings
Time to spend together is every family's most precious resource. Byblos & Beyond trips are designed to let you make the most of every minute, with enriching activities for all ages, special meals and a range of exciting, fun and educational activities. Best of all, they give children the chance to learn true things, to meet other communities and to return home with new friendships as well as with treasured memories.
On Saturday 10 March, we have chosen a trip to Byblos and surroundings. Our journey will start in Hakel village, situated at 650 meters above sea level and 57 Kms away from Beirut. First stop to visit “Expo Hakel”the first natural history museum for marine fossils in Lebanon. Then, we will walk for around 30 to 45 minutes on foot to reach the quarry. Manual tools will be given such as hammers, chisels, adults and kids will have the chance to participate in the excavation with the hope to get a fossil specimen that will be taken home as a souvenir.
Back to the village to enjoy the Saj lunch prepared by the local community. Continue to Byblos and walk along the harbor, the old fishing port, throughout the souks, passing by St. John church before heading back to Beirut.
If the weather conditions will not help, we will suggest an alternative activity to Ehmej La Vallee Blanche. You will watch and participate in daily hand milking cow, demonstration for cheese-making and other farm skills. The farmer will be your guide when you are at the farm, the visit can be a wonderful opportunity for you to model the learning process with your children. Be curious, wonder aloud, ask someone who knows, listen carefully, take in this new knowledge and Go home more connected to the world.
