For the first time ever the 48 Hour film Project comes to the Middle East.

Make a movie in 48 hours to represent Beirut in an international film competition to win prizes, awards, and a chance for the best 48 hour film of the world. the 10 best films will be screened at the 2012 Cannes film festival. That's right, contestants will have to write, shoot, edit and score it, in just 48 hours.

On Friday night, July 8th 2011, you get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to include in your movie. 48 hours later, the movie must be complete. Then it will show at the Metropolis Empire Sofil theater, July 13th-14th.

In 2010, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in in 80 cities on five continents. This year, It's even bigger, with filmmakers from Lebanon taking the challenge to make a film in just 48 hours.

Our Mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through the festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."
