There's plenty of action above and below the water in FSM. The justly famous underwater museum of Chuuk lagoon has enough WWII wrecks to allow for several days of diving and that's even before you explore the atolls surrounding Yap. On Yap, observe the monumental traditional stone money that's large enough to break any bank, or the pair of well-preserved Japanese Zero aircraft. FSM's must-see ruin is Pohnpei's Non Mandol, a series of connected artificial islands strewn with ruins that date back to AD 1500. The relatively youthful 14th-century ruins on Lelu Island offer archaeological exploration with massive burial grounds and hexagonal basalt walls shrouded by thick rainforest.
