Since Brangelina produced Shilo here in 2006, Namibia has hit the world stage as a traveller destination par excellence. With the country's growing interest in ecotourism, and the vast Kalahari on offer to the intrepid adventurer, there's no end of reasons to make a beeline for Namibia in 2009 before the crowds start to descend in earnest. If bird-watching's your thing, absolutely don't miss Etosha National Park, where flamingos and pelicans congregate in their thousands, whilst the treacherous shores of the evocative Skeleton Coast are ripe for exploration. Recent price hikes at many parks and reserves have made visiting Namibia a more costly affair than in years past, but no less worthwhile for that.
