The squeaky clean (no drugs, no spitting) Asian city-state is the ideal venue for the first Youth Olympic Games in August 2010. Some might say it's so safe it's dull, but with mega-developments in Clarke Quay and the plastic fantastic-theme park, Sentosa, there's plenty to keep the under-18s out of trouble. Singapore has been preparing for international events by giving over its streets to its first Grand Prix in 2008 and by up scaling Changi Airport to rival Bangkok as the hub of Southeast Asian travel. It's an ever-popular stopover between Europe and Australia, with a compact city centre that can be sampled in a day.
