33 North: Travel to Lebanon and Syria under the theme Culture and Nature


ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrival to Beirut International Airport, assistance and transfer to the Chouf area. Overnight in a lodge.

Day 2 - Visit the Ottoman palace of Beit El Dine from the XIX century. Transfer to the mountain for a hike in Lebanon largest Cedar reserve Barouq which is the home of 3 million cedar tree. Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 3 - Transfer to the Beqaa Valley, visit the wineries of Kasara, transfer to visit the Baalbeck one of the most important roman site in the levant. Dinner and overnight in a mountain lodge in the Hermel mountains.

Day 4 - Transfer to Akkar and hiking in the plain of Kamouaa known for its juniper and iron oak forest. Transfer to the Qadisha valley, dinner and overnight in the hostel of one of the most important monasteries: Qozhaya.

Day 5 - Visit of the ancient monastery of Qozhaya: la grotte aux fous, the museum and the church. Hiking in the Qadicha valley starting in the village of Fradys to the old village of Qannoubine. Diner and overnight in a guesthouse in the valley.

Day 6 - Hiking in the valley, visit of the monastery of Qannoubine the ancient residence of the patriarch and the old church of Deir El Salib and its wall painting from the XIII century. The hike will end at the ancient monastery of Mar Lichaa (10 km 5 hrs, 300m ascent, 500m descent). Transfer to Tannourine, dinner and overnight in a guesthouse.

Day 7 - Transfer towards the high plateaux of Tannourine and hiking in the cedar reserve and the valley of Ain El Raha karstic formation (10 km, 4 hrs, 300 m descent, 400 m ascent). Stop by the unique geological formation « 3 ponts »! Transfer and dinner and overnight in a lodge in Maad Jbeil.

Day 8 - Walk in the ancient town of Byblos: the archaeological site and the fossils museum, the old souks, the crusaders cathedral and the medieval port. Transfert to Beyrouth : Visit the down town: archéological sites, roman bath, mosques and churches.
Transfer to Taanayel, overnight in an eco-lodge.

Syria

Day 9 - Transfer to Damascus. Town visit: the museum, the chapel of St. Paul and St. Ananie, the Hamadiyeh souks and the Omeyyade mosque. Transfer to the Nebek region, north of Damascus, overnight in the isolated Syriaq monastery Mar Moussa El Habachi from the VI century, located at the oriental side of the Anti-Liban Mountains with a contact with the Syrian Desert.

Day 10 - Visit Maaloula (where we still find people speaking the Arameen language). Free time in the afternoon
Overnight in a monastery in Qaryatein

Day 11 - Transfer to Palmyra, visit the city, the museum and the fortress.
Dinenr and overnight in the Palmyra desert in Bedouin tents.

Day 12 - Transfer to the village of Cheikh Hilal, visit the village and its community.
Dinner and overnight in the village – traditional mud houses.

Day 13 - Back to Beyrouth

The Price

880 USD $ / Person based on a group of minimum 14 participants.
