ENJOY LEBANON WITH BELAIR - Weekend 15th & 16th of October 2011 


Getting to know Akkar breathtaking natural landscapes, legendary Roman ruins, and the one of a kind butterfly museum.

Sat 15 Oct. - 15H30: Departure from BELAIR Travel & Tourism  Office, Cebaco Center, Dora Boulevard.

18H30: Arrival at Al Qoubaiyat & Overnight at “Jabalna” Chalets.

Optional local Saturday night diner (23usd) 23 USD per person at “Shallalat El Samak” restaurant in Kobayyat, famed in the region for his lively ambiance (loud music and dancing in the evenings) and for his good taste.

08H30: Departure to Menjez Akkar and sightseeing. See up close the famed site Beit Jaalouk (or "Maqam ar-Rabb”), an ancient temple dating from the first century AD & the crusader castle ruins ("Qalaat Felis"), and the Maronite Monastery of our Lady of the Fort ("Deir Saydet El Qalaa"), from where on can see the Syrian lands.

10H00: Al Qoubaiyat again for an easy tour

Discover two of the village’s most important sites, historically and archeologically speaking. 

- The first, a church baptized under the name of St. Artimos-Challita which used to be the temple of the God "Ban", located in Helsban Saint Valley. 

- The second, the convent of Mar Doumit of the Carmelite Fathers; visit the monasteries courts and the monastery’s museum of butterflies. 

12H30: Andakit, a green small village known for its local ambiance; Mar Elias Church, & see live Tannour Bread baking

13H30: lunch pause (basket picnic) & Easy hike in Qammouha’s reserve, the magnificent tree plantation of Qammouha serves as a protected reserve by ministerial decree. It is an excellent area for hiking, picnicking, photography and ecology studies.

15H30: head back to Dora, via Halba, Arka & Aabde,

Expected Dely pause at Hallab Tripoli.

19H00: Arrival, depending on traffic

To bring with you: personal hygiene essentials, hiking shoes and comfortable & warm clothes, snacks and plenty of water, hat and sun cream for protection 

Price per Adult Person: 90 USD, 60 USD per child (less than 12 years old)
